§ 19-214. Speed limits on designated streets and highways.

  • Notwithstanding anything in this chapter to the contrary, the legal speed limits on the following streets and highways, or portions thereof, shall be as follows:

    Elm Street (FM 419), from a point 0.126 miles south of the city limits to the city limits, forty-five (45) miles per hour.

    Elm Street, from the intersection of Elm Street and Fifth Street to the intersection of Fowler Street and Fifth Street, the speed limit shall be twenty (20) miles per hour during the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. when school is in session.

    F.M. Highway 419-Elm Street, from the intersection of F.M. 419-Elm Street to 17th Street, twenty (20) miles per hour.

    F.M. Highway 419-Park Road, from the intersection of F.M. 419-Park Road to Elm Street, twenty (20) miles per hour.

    F.M. Highway 1544, from the south city limits to Apple Street, fifty-five (55) miles per hour.

    F.M. Highway 1544, from Apple Street to F.M. 419, forty-five (45) miles per hour.

    Hailey Street, from its intersection with Bawcom Street to its intersection with Tinkler Street, forty (40) miles per hour.

    Hailey Street, from the north city limits to its intersection with Woodruff Lane, fifty (50) miles per hour.

    Hailey Street, from Poplar Street to its intersection with Hickory Street, forty-five (45) miles per hour.

    Hailey Street, from its intersection with Tinkler Street to the east city limits, fifty (50) miles per hour.

    Hailey Street, from the west city limits to its intersection with Poplar Street fifty (50) miles per hour.

    Hailey Street, from its intersection with Woodruff Lane to its intersection with 14th Street, forty (40) miles per hour.

    Interstate 20 North and South Frontage Road:

    (1)

    From Highway Station No. 804 + 19, four hundred eighty (480) feet west of Robert Lee Street to 0.92 mile east, Highway Station No. 852 + 76, forty-five (45) miles per hour.

    (2)

    From this point to 0.5 mile east, Highway Station No. 879 + 16, thirty-five (35) miles per hour.

    (3)

    From this point to 0.606 mile east, Highway Station No. 911 + 16, forty-five (45) miles per hour.

    Lamar Street, from its intersection with Interstate Highway 20 to the south city limits, forty-five (45) miles per hour.

    Lamar Street, from its intersection with Arizona Street to its intersection with U.S. Highway 20, forty (40) miles per hour.

    Locust Street, from the intersection of Locust Street and 12th Street to the intersection of Locust Street and Fifth Street, the speed limit shall be twenty (20) miles per hour during the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. when school is in session.

    Oak Street, from the intersection of Oak Street and Fourth Street to the intersection of Oak Street and Sixth Street within the 400 and 500 block of Oak Street, the speed limit shall be twenty (20) miles per hour.

    Ragland Street, from its intersection with Broadway to its intersection with Beall Street, twenty (20) miles per hour when the yellow lights are flashing during such times as designated by the Sweetwater Independent School District.

    Robert Lee Street, from its intersection with West Avenue B, to its intersection with Alabama Street, twenty (20) miles per hour.

    17th Street, from its intersection with Cypress Street to its intersection with Elm Street, twenty (20) miles per hour.

    State Highway 70, from its intersection with Avenue A to its intersection with Arizona Street, forty (40) miles per hour.

    State Highway 70, from its intersection with East 14th Street to Lou Street (Highway Station 46-07), thirty-five (35) miles per hour.

    State Highway 70, from its intersection with 14th Street to its intersection with Woodruff Lane, forty (40) miles per hour.

    State Highway 70, from its intersection with Highway Station 46-07 to its intersection with Highway Station 55-84, forty-five (45) miles per hour.

    State Highway 70, from its intersection with Highway Station 55-84 to the east city limits, fifty (50) miles per hour.

    State Highway 70, from its intersection with Interstate 20 to the south city limits, forty-five (45) miles per hour.

    State Highway 70, from its intersection with Interstate 20 to the city limits, forty (40) miles per hour.

    State Highway 70, from a point halfway between Lewis Front and Alamo Avenue to its intersection with Arizona Street, thirty-five (35) miles per hour.

    State Highway 70, from a point halfway between Lewis Front and Alamo Avenue, to its intersection with Loop 432, thirty (30) miles per hour.

    State Highway 70, from its intersection with Arizona Street to its intersection with Interstate 20, forty (40) miles per hour.

    State Highway 70, from its intersection with Lou Street (Highway Station 46-07) to the east city limits, forty-five (45) miles per hour.

    State Highway 70, from its intersection with Lou Street to the north city limits, fifty-five (55) miles per hour.

    State Highway 70, from its intersection with a point 200 feet south of the center line of Avenue B to its intersection with Avenue E, thirty (30) miles per hour, except when twenty (20) miles per hour is indicated by the school zone signal.

    State Highway 70, from its intersection with Interstate 80, Business Loop 401 (East 14th Street) to its intersection with Highway Station No. 35-62 (Santa Fe), thirty (30) miles per hour.

    State Highway 70, from its intersection with Woodruff to its intersection with Lou Street, fifty (50) miles per hour.

    State Highway 70, from mile point 2.789 to mile point 3.008, fifty-five (55) miles per hour.

    State Highway 70, from mile point 3.008 to mile point 3.804, sixty (60) miles per hour.

    State Highway 80 (Business Route), from its intersection with Highway Station 802-22 to its intersection with the west city limits, fifty (50) miles per hour.

    State Highway 80 (Business Route), from its intersection with Highway Station 814-20 to its intersection with Highway Station 802-22, forty-five (45) miles per hour.
